6 Ways To Keep Your Skin Hydrated During The Colder Months

Hydrated skin. Moisturized.

‘Tis the season to combat dry skin! This cold weather has my body screaming for moisture...so I thought I should share my favorite ways to keep your skin hydrated this winter.

1. Exfoliate that skin.

Exfoliating is the first step to living with smooth skin.. the benefits are endless! Not only does it help remove dead skin cells, but it promotes circulation + skin cell turnover, prevents ingrown hairs, body acne and inflamed pores.

Tip: Exfoliate once a week while in the shower with Brown Sugar Body Scrub.

2. Limit the extremely hot showers.

No matter how good it feels hot water dries our skin out. Remember we are trying to retain moisture girl! Extreme hot showers strip the natural oils from our skin.

3. Limit antibacterial soaps

Leave the Dial alone! Constantly using antibacterial soaps can reduce the healthy bacteria on your skin. The chemicals in these soaps can remove our natural oils, making skin drier.

Tip: Follow up with a good body conditioner to add hydration back to the skin. Make sure it's fragrance free or lightly fragranced if you need a little smell good.

4. Moisturize on damp skin

Moisturizing on damp skin because damp skin is more porous than dry skin. It helps you absorb the moisture from your butters and/or oils.

Tip: Apply our Brown Sugar Body Butter + Body Oil together on damp skin to get the maximum hydration.

5. Opt for a thicker lotions.

I love to use Our Brown Sugar Body Butter on my skin...especially during the colder months. The thickness helps seal in moisture and is a great barrier to the outside elements.

6.Water...water...WATER!

Drink it. (I’m working on this one myself lol) We all know water is essential in our lives...legit it's a no brainer. So why is it so hard? Lol. Water helps hydrate our skin from the inside out. I know they say drink 8 glasses a day, but I suggest carrying a with jug everyday and enjoy! One of my favorite brands of water is Mountain Valley Spring Water. DELICIOUS!
